This course is a 3x9 with different difficulty levels among the 3 9s. The two that I played were fairly tight and vertical "neighborhood woods course" not too long (some 450yd par4s but a lot of short par4s and 5s) but with good elevation, some uphill greens and very sloped fairways and some elevated and well-guarded greens. Very-good test of accuracy off the tee. Plenty of opportunity to play draws and fades, high and low...as well as to go looking for balls in the shrubbery. In many places it was not really thick. In some places it was. If you want a good challenge without that feeling that the course is "over the top" ridiculous, this is it. A very enjoyable course to play even with all the houses and road-noise. On the first 9 the greens were mostly large, flat and level within 20 yds of the green. That changed dramatically on Canyon. In both cases the fairways had modest waste, with grass that was short and sparse and it was really hard to hit open-faced shots without blading them. A great course to work on your closed-face shots. Watch for extra action off the tees with extra height and fast fairways.

Where Rancho Maria was maybe a little too timid (and noisy) and the neighbor course was maybe a little too spicy (and definitely too busy), this was a great middle-ground. Bring some extra balls, save yourself the time and trouble of hunting for every errant shot, relax and have fun.
