UP government tabled the report of a five-member judicial commission constituted by Yogi Adityanath-led government to probe Atiq & Ashraf killings yesterday. In its report, the commission has given a clean chit to the police concluding that the murders could not be “a result of a premeditated conspiracy of the state or police”. The commission, headed by former chief justice of Allahabad High Court Dilip B Bhosale, said that it was not possible for the police to avert the incident and that the police’s decision of not shooting at the three attackers, who shot Atiq and Ashraf dead while they were being escorted for a medical check-up on 15 April 2023, was “correct”.The report further said that the incident was not the result of police negligence.
