Kanchi MaTyang Tyang | Arko Mukhaerjee & Friends ft David Beck | River Jam | Nepali Lokgeet | 2023

Kanchi Matyang Tyang is an old folk song from Nepal initially collected by Poet Tulasi Diwas and later sung by great artists from all over Nepal.

This is a special folk jam session with one of the oldest bass instruments in the world, the Moroccan Gimbri played by my dear friend David Beck. Koustav, Sajib and myself had great fun designing this West African Gnawa kind of arrangement of this song with David and then enjoying the song in the old ghats of Kolkata along the river Ganga beside Kumartuli, one early January winter morning with sculptors and clay artists designing idols of Ma Saraswati, the Goddess of Music and Education, throughout the area.
