Defend The India Bhopal Survivors! SF Action At Indian Consulate On 40th Anniversary Of Disaster

On the 40th anniversary of the Union Carbide industrial accident in Bhopal, India that killed over 20,000 people, a commemoration took place at the Indian consulate in San Francisco on December 1, 2024. Participants and organizers spoke out about the man made catastrophe and they also painted a street mural commemorating the people and women. Union Carbide was taken over by Dow Chemical and the company continues to refuse to be held accountable for the health issues of the residents. Speakers also called out the role of the Indian government which has refused to prosecute the corporate executives who were responsible of the mass industrial catastrophe that continues to harm communities and workers.
