By Jerry Askin NewsChannel 9 spoke to the victim of a stolen generator. The theft was all caught on tape. It happened last Friday after a Rossville man left his generator on the back of his pick up truck outside his Walker county home.According to the surveillance video, the Nissan pickup truck pulls into the driveway at around 4:48pm. Then, seven minutes later, the video shows a man and a woman hauling the massive generator onto the back of their truck. They had no idea it was all caught on camera.If you would have asked, I would have given it to you, but you don't steal stuff from me, says Billy Thundercloud It was his generator the thieves stole last Friday. It's worth almost $1500. Billy says he's grateful for his neighbor.He has a video camera on all corners of both houses and his camcorder is the one that recorded it because the guy pulled into his driveway, says Thundercloud.Walker county deputies believe 46-year old David Gosnell is the man responsible.East Ridge police arrested Gosnell Tuesday night on charges of burglary and criminal impersonation for a separate crime. They stopped him after noticing it was the same truck seen in the surveillance video. But, so far, Walker County hasn't charged him or the woman with the generator theft. It wound up being a good example of just good old fashion police work and modern day technology working together, says Major Mike Freeman from the Walker County Sheriff's Office.Billy knows of several other recent thefts in his neighborhood. It's the reason deputies say they can appreciate any additional eyes to help catch the bad guys.He put it up to protect his property, and in the same way, he helped protect his neighbor's property, or obtain evidence to help prosecute someone that stole from a neighbor, says Major Freeman.Billy has a message for the man responsible.Why should you still from other hard working people and put them in dire need? Go to work. Get you a job and get you a real life, says Thundercloud.Again, Walker county sheriff's deputies hasn't officially charged Gosnell or the woman. If and when they do, we'll let you all know.
