About the series:
As an extension of the World Music Heritage Series conceived and produced by maestro Bhai Baldeep Singh for Anād Records, the YaarAnād Virtual Baithak Series aims to celebrate excellence in the field of music, arts, dance, theatre, and literature. The YaarAnād Virtual Baithak Series marks the 550th birth anniversary Gurū Nānak Dēv, the first gurū of the Sikhs.
The Kīrtankārs:
Bhai Harbaljeet Singh began studying from father, Sardar Anoop Singh, at a very young age. Shortly after, he was sent to his father’s teacher, Master Chaman Lal, to further his musical education who also had him study with a senior disciple, Master Pargas. Later, Harbaljeet went on to study with Master Darshan Singh of Batala, as well as his teacher, Pandit Vishwamitra. Initially they performed classical music but were inspired to form a Rāgī Jathā — a trio singing hymns from the sacred Sikh scripture, with his brothers and have since been performing Gurbāṇī Kīrtana. For the first 6 years, they served at their village Gurudwara, before serving at Saket Mandi (10 years), Panipat (2 years), Kurukshetra (about 6 years, Pipli), and at a village in Rajpura district (3 years). They have toured UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok, Canada, and USA.
