The Rivonia trial is arguably the most significant political trial in South African history. it took place in south Africa between 1963 and 1964, in which ten leaders of the African national congress were tried for 221 acts of sabotage designed to overthrow the apartheid system. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the rivonia trial sentencing. To take us back to that day is Mr Ahmed Kathrada, who is one of the eight men sentenced to life imprisonment; we will also be joined on the phone by Andrew Mlangeni.
