The Deseret Power Railroad, is one of only two electric railroads left in the United States that still carry freight. The other is the Iowa traction in Mason City, Iowa (see link below for footage of that railroad). This is a totally land locked railroad that picks up coal from the Deserado coal mine in Rangely , Colorado and then transports the coal to the Bonanza power plant in Bonanza, Utah.

Track length is about 33 miles. Trains are powered by General Electric, E60C-2, locomotives running off of 50,000 volts. A very high voltage for locomotives. Most trains run once a day except on Tuesdays when there is two round trips. As shown in the video this area is rich in coal. Many abandon coal tunnels can be seen as far as the eye can see. Filmed in June, 2020.
