In addition, the authorities must also carry out necessary earthworks, such as rock blasting and earth cutting, depending on the situation, to remove engineering obstacles and open up a new section on the hillside connecting Air Itam to Tun Dr Lim Highway.

He added that the fifth phase involves other work, such as site clearing, preparation of roadbed for permanent ramps and soil improvement projects, while the pilot work of public facilities in the sixth phase of the project also started in February this year.

Regarding the progress of the relocation of infrastructure affected by the project, Zairil revealed that the infrastructure located at the first junction (Tian Teck Park Avenue), including the Penang Water Supply Corporation water pipes, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Telekom Malaysia cables have been relocated. .

“As of now, infrastructure providers in the fifth phase, such as Penang Water Supply Corporation, Intali Water and Tenaga Nasional Bhd, have begun construction and relocation of infrastructure on site.”
