A lot of people do not take the time to really understand themselves. They do not spend time to understand, "why do I tend to react in a certain way when either that family member or that person says that comment". They do not stop to ask themselves, "what belief am I carrying that is having me react so strongly and in this way". Self-awareness is key and few people take time to dig in their past to really understand the monumental moments that shape their thinking and their current beliefs. Emotional maturity starts with understanding we all have triggers from the past that need Jesus' healing.

Pete Scazzero says "emotional maturity and spiritual maturity are inseparable". There is so much truth to this. Your emotional maturity and knowing yourself really does have an effect on your spiritual maturity with Jesus.
