I need advice on how to fix PS4 Sign In error messages.

Check the "is it up and running" websites that monitor the Sony site. If Sony is down, or if the game server is down, you are not going to be able to log in.

Sony’s site is up. I can see it on the PC.

If Sony’s servers were down, and you still get the error, I’d say to reboot the PS4 to kick the confused console into seeing it again.

If it were just a down game server, I’d know to switch games.

If the game server was just too popular, you would not be able to access it, either. However, that rarely shows up with the PlayStation 4 servers as a whole except Christmas morning.

That makes Christmas new users their own DDOS force.

If you receive a DNS server error, that is not a login error but server error; the solution in that case is restarting it, not just putting it in standby mode.

I get the error even after restarting it.

Are you using the right password? Or the right user ID?

I have not changed it lately.

Go to the log-in on a computer and try to log in. You may be fat-fingering it, or fat-fingered it to the point that your account locked.

At least you are not rushing to the conclusion my account was blocked because of something I did online.

You’ll get warned before they kick out your account, and it is way better to unfriend people than get in trouble with Sony for death threats that sound cool during a zombie game but look bad on a transcript. Next question – have you paid for stuff?

Why don't you log into the website on a PC and update your payment information. Save that, and you’ll see any other updates or prompts like a notice to change your password or update your email address.

Why would they let me update my credit card before letting me see the notice to update a password or verify an email address?

It is called the show me the money syndrome.

Go to settings, network, test internet connection to make sure the PS4 can connect to the server.

That should not be necessary if I can see the website.

If someone is downloading while you’re trying to connect to the point that packets are lost while you try to log in, the log-in times out before it can finish.

This becomes an interesting excuse to tell other people to stop surfing the net so I can play.
