Описание к видео Waiting for the Robert E. Lee - Intro: Ragtime Cowboy Joe | Lewis F. Muir | Player piano

Commemorating the palace steamer "Rob't. E. Lee", which caught fire today 143 years ago on September 30, 1882, with the loss of 21 lives and respectfully dedicated to Captain John W. Cannon.

The steamer/steamboat "Rob't. E. Lee. II", built in 1876 as a replacement for the famed racer with the same name.
Built by Howard Shipyard, with a dimension of 315 x 48.5 x 10.5, Engines, 40’s- 10 ft, Nine boilers, each 42” by 32 ft. Paddlewheels 40 ft. dia. working 17 ft. buckets.
Much equipment of the former Rob’t E. Lee went into her construction, designed for the New Orleans-Vicksburg trade. She was downbound from Vicksburg, 35 miles below at 3:30 A.M. Sept. 30, 1882, at Yucatan Plantation, when fire was discovered. Witnesses said she ‘went up like gunpowder,’ with the loss of 21 lives.

She is my favorite Mississippi River steamer that ever glide the waters, unfortunately, the only relic left of her is the bronze bell. This song is also the best and a favorite of mine by Muir, probably the best from 1912.

This roll have major damage from previous owners, I am not sure how it was ripped almost the entire roll, they tried repairing with tape but was done poorly, resulting spamming notes.

Waiting for the Robert E.Lee
Medley Two-Step Introducing:
Ragtime Cow Boy Joe
Music Copyrighted F. A. Mills
Muir & Abrahams.

This roll was based on Robert Recker's (I believe) arrangement, March & Two-Step orchestral arrangement copyrighted August 9, 1912. Aeolian had this transposed -2 compared to the original arrangement, funnily enough, both Electra 80162 (Standard Music Co. of Orange, NJ.) and Royal Music Co. 4260 (Buffalo, NY.) stole Aeolian's arrangement and simply removed "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" middle part to avoid detection.
