GIANT (almost) WORLD RECORD RAINBOW TROUT | Tekapo Canal Fishing NZ

A short 3 day trip down to the world famous Twizel/Tekapo canals produced some Incredble fish! On the second day my good mate Lachie, caught a 35lb+ rainbow trout! this thing was a absolute monster. We also got a few smallers 6lbrs, a 17lb rainbow and a 22lb bow. Other mates Logan and Jack were also down with us and they caught some real nice fish too, including the 22lb rainbow.

All fish were caught while drifting eggs which is a popular and effective fishing method down here at the canals. fish were caught on 6lb and 3lb flurocarbon leader and size 2500 and 2000 reels.

All the big ones were thrown back but a few of the smaller ones were kept for the smoker!
