Having completed the ‘Rhinns of Kells’ and the ‘Range of the Awful Hand’ mountain ranges in Galloway, I decided to challenge myself and trek into the most remote rugged, boggy and remote hills in Southern Scotland - the Dungeon Hills.

This mysterious sub-range of hills capture the imagination, with location names including ‘the murder hole’ and ‘the devils bowling green’ surrounding the roughly hewn and gloriously wild granite bulks of Craignaw, Dungeon Hill and Mullwharcher.

Joined once again by Hubert, Coops and I enjoyed backpacking through the peat bogs and tussocky nonsense to discover what lay beyond the outer rims of the Galloway Hills. We were not disappointed! In this video, we summit Craig Neldricken, Craignairny, Craignaw, Dungeon Hill and Buchan Hill - our longest trek to date.
