This Janmashtami felt extra special, and I wanted to share how we celebrated the day at home – from getting ready for the pooja, preparing prashad with my mom, to setting up the pooja thali and festive décor.

Over the years, I’ve realized that festivals are not just about rituals, but about the little joys of cooking together, bringing out the beautiful dinnerware, and adding small touches of décor that make the home feel festive. This time, I picked some lovely pieces from Nestasia that added so much warmth and elegance to my celebrations.

For the kitchen, I’ve been using their beige kitchen canisters to store dry pulses, lentils and snacks – they’re sturdy glass jars with a protective metal casing that keep everything fresh and are so easy to organize. While cooking kheer for prashad with my mom, I used their ceramic cooking pot – I love how it holds heat for longer and how nothing sticks to the base, making cooking such a stress-free experience.

We laid the prashad on the gold embossed metal tray in glass bowls, which looked festive yet minimal, and the tall glass tumblers added such a modern touch for serving drinks. These pieces are not only beautiful, but also microwave, dishwasher, and chip-resistant – making them practical for everyday use long after the celebrations are over.

For the pooja, the highlight was definitely the Sankalp Brass Pooja Thali Set. The detailing on the brass diya and ghanti, along with the embossed thali, made the setup feel so complete. I also loved placing the tealight holders around the rangoli – the hand-painted designs looked stunning once lit. To finish the décor, I added the brass diya stands.
