Cord visits Tina at the halfway house, and she hopes it’s to escort her to the ball. Cord says Yolanda put the kibosh on that idea immediately. Tina’s hopeful they can bring down the Wymans before Christmas and then maybe Judge Carlin will see the progress she’s made and let her go home early. Cord and Tina’s conversation quickly goes from amicable to contentious as Cord once again berates Tina for the mistakes she’s made. Megan gets a message from Raymond to come to the hospital, and she arrives and thanks him, though he says he isn’t sure what for. She says he’s far too modest. He explains he’s summoned her there to say goodbye; his father died in his sleep last night so he’s been summoned home to Mendorra to assume the throne. Debra marvels over the finished gown that Gabrielle made. Max finds Gabrielle in the costume room and tells her she shouldn’t be here while she’s still sick. He spots the gown, which he says is perfect, and he is amazed at what a great job Tonya did, especially after saying she didn’t have the time to remake the gown. After he leaves, she sends a messenger over to the hotel with the dress. Julia stops into Clint’s office and assumes he and Viki managed to work out their differences. Clint laughs morosely and says he slept on the couch in his office last night and explains the situation he walked into yesterday.

Gabrielle falls asleep at her desk and fantasizes about Max coming to her in his tux and saying it’s her he wants to be with. Megan says she’s not ready to say goodbye permanently; she vows to show up in Mendorra one day when he least expects it. Sarah asks Megan what Raymond said about the gifts he sent her, and she says they never got a chance to talk about it. A courier delivers flowers to Megan’s suite and the note tells her to look in the closet, where she finds the gown Gabrielle made. Sarah and Megan still think the gifts were from Raymond and are surprised when Max knocks on the hotel room door. He walks in confidently and asks if she has a date to the ball, admires the flowers, and asks if she has everything she needs. Megan is short and hostile towards him and he leaves dejected. Sarah says she momentarily thought maybe Max was behind the gifts, but Megan dismisses that idea out of hand.

Back at the halfway house, Tina tells Gabrielle she can’t stand being cooped up while everyone is out dancing, so she’s going to the Centennial Ball. She even took the liberty of sneaking a pair of gowns out of Llanfair and making up an excuse for Yolanda. Kevin takes the bus to The Banner offices to see Clint and asks his dad why he didn’t sleep at home last night. Clint says he and Viki are headed for a long-term separation.
