In March and April, 2021 the BMA Anti-Racism Committee (ARC) will be putting words into action (with more words, and more zooms!) by launching our “Speaker Series.” The aim of the series is to simply begin; to start having the tough conversations, creating safe spaces for voices to be heard, and creating an open forum for accountability in anti-racism work in Boston’s music sectors. We look forward to collectively sharing lessons learned and challenges faced in anti-racist and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) work from local educators, presenters, orchestral directors, and individual artists.

We’re speaking with Co-Executive Director Arthur Rishi and Music Director Chris Wilkins of the Landmarks Orchestra. This conversation highlights the important work Landmarks has already begun, and outline their intentions for future anti-racism work - which we hope can serve as a model for the myriad Boston-based freelance organizations.
