The Melbourne-Tillman Water Control District is working to mechanically harvest vegetation from canals. This prevents the need to use chemicals to control them and removes the nitrogen and phosphorus stored in the plants that would otherwise cause pollution in the lagoon if they were sprayed with herbicide. Just one more project that is reducing lagoon pollution using the 1/2 cent sales tax.
