With a Type-S badge, come Type-S expectations, so color us slightly skeptical when Acura handed us the keys to this 2024 Acura MDX Type-S Ultra. But a quick look at the spec sheet will reveal that this midsize SUV is anything but a badge slap: With a turbocharged V6 producing 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, an adjustable air suspension and improved handling the MDX promises to live up to the high expectations.

But does it? In today's review we take a look at the Acura MDX interior, exterior, and driving dynamics while comparing it to its competitors. And that field of competitors is stacked when clocking in at not-quite-so-cheap $87,662.20 CAD here in Canada (roughly $64,100.00 USD). That invites comparisons not just to other premium SUVs such as the Mazda CX-90 & CX-70, but also proper luxury SUVs like the Genesis GV80.
