Emiliano Juarez - HOHNER Guitar Sessions

Born and raised in Mexico City, the guitarist Emiliano Juárez grew up surrounded by traditional music styles but also found his way through Rock into the Blues by listening to the famous records of the 20s and 30s. Spending hours and hours of practicing the old tunes and licks in his room he developed his distinct style.

Next to harmonica player Marcos Coll, Emiliano is responsible for the bluesy influences on the sound of Los Mighty Calacas. The four-headed band is known for a bewitching mixture of different music styles that the members refer to as "100% toloache" - a mystical love portion.

Los Mighty Calacas played a phenomenal gig at the World Harmonica Festival in 2013. We took the chance to ask Emiliano about his musical roots, the importance to express yourself, his band and especially the secrets behind "toloache" that made us fall in love with these fellows.
