Academia: Stay or Go? | Post-PhD Career Planning

Academia is not a nine to five job. Academia requires you to move around for the first ten+ years of your career. Academia is short-term contracts, instability, fighting for grants, and with no guarantee of ever settling down permanently. So why choose it?

Because for some of us, it will feel worth it.

(But not me.)
