I truly believe that the future of beekeeping resides in good genetics that are able to fend off varroa and build immunity to different viruses. We are already seeing drastic improvements in our genetic lines today. But, the key will be to still maintain the other traits needed for survival in different climates like overwintering ability, the ability to survive on minimal food stores, varroa resistance/the ability to keep on going without chemical treatments, productivity, the ability to lay sheets on sheets of brood, and a stable genetic line that shows that each daughter comes back with the same traits as their mothers. This is what Kasey has been working on for the last 5 almost 6 years now! And we call her Viplidoo :)
