Enjoy the experience landing at one of the world's highest and most unique airports situated in the Himalayan Mountains. We fly the TBM 930 from Tumlingtar to Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla, Nepal. Instructions by Visual Flight Rules (VFR) navigation are provided to fly this short 15 minute flight over the Kosi River valley into Tenzing Hillary at an elevation of 9,334 feet. Time stamps for the video are indicated below. Departure at 3:00. This is my first video with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator platform released on August 18, 2020.

Notes about flight in mountainous terrain:
Real world flying over/through mountainous regions requires a knowledge of the dangers associated with the landscape and requires proper pre-flight planning. Comprehensive mountain flying courses consist of ground instruction and in flight lessons by certified flight instructors with experience in mountainous terrain. It is essential to understand the parameters that include density altitude effects on aircraft performance, effects of mountains on wind patterns, high altitude physiology and mountain meteorology. Mountain flying requires the ability to maintain good VFR conditions.
