We're getting SO CLOSE to RACE DAY!

Welcome back to a week in the life on prep for Ironman Tallinn, my first full distance Ironman race.

This week was a solid week in the books, starting with a rest day from a heavy weekend and having Physio Meg sort out the issues I’ve been having with my hip.

Tuesday started with an easy run into an evening open water swim, fast becoming my favourite evening of training each week.

We were back in the hills of the Peak District on Wednesday, ripping the bike. It’s always rough, but I’m really seeing the benefits of the elevation.

Thursday intervals went surprisingly well thanks to the help of a caffeinated beverage, smashing the 6 x 1k that was set by coach.

Friday we had some easy laps of Regents on the bike, followed by a run club with On to launch their Soft Wins campaign.

Saturdays 180km bike couldn’t have been less ideal. Tough conditions and a puncture on the TT not even 30km into the route. My neighbour Ross came to the rescue, dropping off the roadie in a Tadej Pogacar style bike swap. Beautiful stuff. The road was long, but the session was completed with a strong head.

A Sunday long run to round the week off, and hit some impressive numbers for 5 weeks out from Race Day.
