Tropical « Stardust » Dial !
The 6536 Submariner, aka «James Bond», was produced during four short years, from 1955 until 1959. A whole other era, when the «date» complication seemed quite useless... It possesses all the aesthetically attractive features that make the Submariners from the 50’s so desirable : chapter ring, «gilt» dial, no crown-guards case...
This dial is a pure wonder of sobriety and balance with its two silver and gold lines. Its «gilt» finish is emphasized by the «tropical» texture and the marvellous “red triangle” insert. A unique blend of flavors for an exquisite watch.
Here is a wonderful example of a true «tropical» watch : easily recognizable by its strong patina and its brown dial, but also and foremost by its matching hands that aged just like the dial and indexes and also by the printing which remained very clear and sharp. A wonderful example of a classic and much sought-after Submariner. Plain and simple. The sequined «stardust» tropial dial comes litteraly alive when exposed to the sun. It is magnified by the homogeneous patina of the indexes, original radium dark hands and “red triangle” insert.
The case is also in very good condition, with the original chamfers still showing and the engravings perfectly legible. The exceptional patina of the dial, hands and insert endow this timepiece with a great appeal and surely makes it an item of «Grande Collection».

Cadran Tropical «Stardust» !
La Submariner 6536, dite « James Bond », a été produite durant quatre courtes années, de 1955 à 1959. Une époque où la complication «date» semblait encore bien inutile pour une plongeuse... Elle dispose de tous les atouts esthétiques qui rendent les Submariner des années 50 si désirables : chemin de fer, cadran « Gilt », absence de protège-couronne.
Le cadran est une merveille de sobriété et d’équilibre avec ses 2 lignes, l’une argent et l’autre or. Sa finition « Gilt » et soulignée par le fait qu’il soit « Tropical » et par l’insert patiné « triangle rouge » qui lui confère un aspect unique.
Voilà une vraie « Tropical » : elle se reconnaît certes à sa forte patine et à son cadran qui a viré au marron, mais aussi et surtout à la cohérence et à l’état de l’ensemble : des aiguilles patinées de manière similaire au cadran et aux index et des écritures dont l’impression est restée parfaitement nette et claire. Une Submariner tout simplement magique ! Le cadran Tropical pailleté « Stardust » prend littéralement vie lorsqu’il est exposé à la lumière du soleil. Il est de plus magnifié par une patine homogène des index, des aiguilles originales à la teinte très matte et par l’insert « triangle rouge». La carrure est de plus en très bel état, avec les chanfreins originaux encore perceptibles et les gravures parfaitement lisibles. La patine exceptionnelle du cadran, des aiguilles et de l’insert assurent quant à eux un charme absolu à cette pièce de grande collection.
