This mead was made to mark a moment that will last a lifetime.
Maize’s Legacy Mead was started in honor of my granddaughter’s birth—a bottle laid down not just to ferment, but to age alongside her story.

Blueberries and pomegranate were chosen with intention: deep, rich fruits that symbolize love, strength, and the promise of a bright future. This is a long-age mead, crafted slowly and carefully, meant to be opened years from now as a reminder of where her story began and how deeply she has always been loved.

🍯 Maize’s Legacy Mead (1 Gallon – Long-Age Batch)

Ingredients:

Honey – 3 lbs (wildflower or orange blossom for a balanced floral base)

Pomegranate juice – 2 cups (100% juice, no preservatives)

Blueberries – 1 lb (frozen then thawed to break cell walls)

Tannin source – 1 black tea bag or 1/4 tsp grape tannin (for aging structure)

Acid blend – 1/2 tsp (balances fruit and aids preservation)

Yeast nutrient – per schedule (critical for a healthy ferment)

Yeast – Lalvin 71B-1122 (fruit-forward, softens acidity, ages beautifully)

Water – to 1 gallon total


Optional (aging insurance):

Light toast oak cube or spiral – 1/2 oz in secondary for long-term structure
