Tension Today: Philippine Navy Ships Challenge China's In South China Sea.

In a recent development, the Philippines has dispatched naval vessels to a contested region in the South China Sea. This move comes in response to allegations that the People’s Republic of China or PRC is constructing an ‘artificial island’ in the midst of an ongoing territorial dispute between the two nations, as per an official statement from the office of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. BRP Teresa Magbanua has been tasked by the Philippine Coast Guard or PCG with the responsibility of keeping a careful eye on China's alleged illegal operations. These activities include the destruction of coral reefs in order to create a "artificial island" on Escoda Shoal, which is located in the West Philippine Sea or WPS.
