Recipe (adapted from a recipe by The Tough Cookie):

175g sugar
87g salted butter, softened
60ml heavy cream
60ml water

To make this a looser, caramel sauce consistency, increase the cream to 120ml and increase the butter to 175g. This version would also be whippable.
