The village of Thazhava in Kollam is a pretty little hamlet renowned for making elegant pieces of traditional Kerala mats, Thazhapaya or Screw pine mats. One of the oldest crafts in Kerala, weaving of screw pine mats stretches back to several hundred years.

How to reach Thazhava
Frequent buses are available from Mundakkayam in Kottayam and the place is about 15 kms away from Mundakkayam. The nearest railway station is Kottayam and Cochin International Airport is the nearest air connectivity.
