When it comes to mixing, mastering a music production, the modern age affords us an almost limitless palette of sonic tools. Whether analog or digital, the number of effects, plugins, and outboard gear that you can use for your projects is essentially endless.
If you’re a beginning engineer or producer, this myriad of options can quickly and easily get overwhelming. Even when you’re able to narrow down this enormous list of possibilities to a few key plugins or pieces of gear, the techniques you can do with them can be equally daunting.

The FG-Grey is a recreation of the classic SSL 4000 series VCA compressor, the FG-Red is modeled after the Focusrite Red 3 VCA compressor, and the FG-Mu is an homage to the legendary Fairchild 660.
All three are excellent emulations of these classic units. Next, we have the FG-X mastering suite, which includes all the basic tools needed to master your track is as hassle-free a way as possible. And finally, we have the AIR EQ, which includes a unique tone-shaping feature that we explore in-depth in the video.
