There is a story of squirrels in Ramayana. According to the Ramayana, when Lord Rama and his army were building a bridge over the ocean to reach Lanka and to rescue Mother Sita, the wife of Lord Rama who was kidnapped by the demon king, Ravana.

Lord Rama’s army pulled out the rocks & heavy stones from the mountains & carried them to the sea & began to build the bridge. All this was a very difficult task. thousands & thousands of monkeys & bears worked hard day & night. Lord Rama felt very happy to see their hard work.

Meanwhile he saw a small squirrel, it was going up & down the seashore with little pebbles in his mouth. The squirrels would carry the tiny pebbles & stones from the seashore and dropped them into the small gaps left between the huge stones placed by the army.

The army of monkeys and bears laughed at the squirrels & said that they were too small & weak to help in such a big task.

Lord Rama said to the monkeys & bears, not to make fun of the weak & the small. It is important to acknowledge & appreciate the efforts of all beings, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem.

This story teaches us the importance of acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of all beings, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem. Lord Rama’s words of encouragement inspired the squirrel to continue its efforts & contribute to the larger goal, showing us that every small effort counts towards achieving a greater objective.
