Starting pitchers in the first week of the '83 season LHP Charlie Lea (0-0) for the Expos and RHP Bob Welch (0-0) for the hometown Dodgers. Bob Welch has a rough 5th loading up the bases, and an RBI single from 2B Doug Flynn and a throwing error from Welch as the Expos score 5 runs (2 unearned). while Charlie Lea goes 6.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits including a solo Home run from LF Dusty Baker (1) in the 7th as Expo manager Bill Virdon goes to the bullpen and brings in Jeff Reardon who gives up just one hit the rest of the way as the Expos hold on to win their 4 th in a row in the young season. Charlie Lea with the win and Bob Welch with the loss. also jumps to the Brewers at Royals game with Bob Costas and Toni Kubek
