I’ve struggled with personal style my entire life.
Not because I didn’t care, but because my body, my size, my health, my beliefs, and the clothes available to me never really lined up at the same time.
From being a short, chubby kid pushed into the Misses department,
to losing weight as a teen and wearing whatever was available during the ultra-revealing early 2000s,
to strict modesty rules at a conservative Christian college,
to dressing for someone else’s expectations in my twenties,
to navigating plus-size clothing, scrubs, and body changes in my thirties,
My personal style has never been simple for me.
For most of my life, clothing was about rules, access, or survival, not expression.
Now, in midlife, I am finally starting to see the pattern.
I am drawn to timeless, classic, effortless pieces.
Crewneck sweaters.
Calf-length dresses.
Natural nails.
Flat, supportive shoes.
Leather bags that get better with age.
I am learning how to style clothes instead of just wearing them.
I am investing in pieces that last, even as my body continues to change.
I am choosing comfort, modesty, and ease without apology.
This video is not about trends or fashion advice.
It is about what it looks like to reclaim your sense of self after decades of dressing for expectations.
If you are a woman over 40 navigating body changes, modesty, health, or a lifetime of interrupted personal style, you are not behind.
You are just finally getting a say.
