STORYLINE:

Protesters handed out 30,000 red cards and 10,000 whistles near the Stade de France on Saturday to protest the French pension reform ahead of the French Cup Final in Saint-Denis.

The unions hope that the spectators will heckle and boo the president during the final.

Protests have become a popular way to voice anger at the new law which raises the retirement age from 62 to 64 in France.

All of France's main unions are planning to hold nationwide protests on May 1 to coincide with International Workers' Day.
