Oeschinensee: The MOST Beautiful Lake of Switzerland – Gem of the Swiss Alps in Bernese Oberland

The Oeschinensee lays in the Bernese (Berner) Oberland, in one of Switzerland’s most touristy regions. It’s located at the village of Kandersteg and can be easily reached by cable car. The Oeschinensee is the perfect place to go for a hike. As you reach higher, you will be getting more impressive views down to the lake. The Oeschinensee is embedded into the Swiss Alps and a pine tree forest and feels like an alpine Oasis. The water of the lake has a very strong turquoise shine, which make’s it specially beautiful. Having reached the top, you will get a perfect panorama with the Alps, the forest and the lake. There are many great photo spots at where to take beautiful pictures. The entire hike would take roughly 3 hours but depending on what are your travel goals, you may want to turn back once having reached the top and hike down to the alpine roller coaster. Just next to the top station of the cabin ride is the alpine roller coaster, which will add some great thrill to your journey. The ride is very fun, make sure to ride at least twice, and together with this unique alpine landscape definitely unforgettable. Also hike to the lake front. There you can rent a boat or simple walk along the shores. There is also a restaurant at where you can get some refreshments. To save some money, you may simply hike down instead of going back to the cable car; in that case, just buy a single ride ticket to go up. All in all, the Oeschinensee is clearly among the most beautiful lakes, if not THE most beautiful lake of Switzerland!
