Flow Hive Honey Bee keeping Update YES the Queen can lay eggs in the Flow-Frames

In this video I share the results of allowing the Queen access to the flow-frames. This was done to answer the question, "can a queen lay in those deep flow-supers". YES she can indeed.

Coming out of Winter, the condition of the flow-hive flow-frames. Are they still functional? Candied Honey in cells and brood, what does that mean and why does it happen?
The Queen can and will in some colonies lay eggs in plastic flowhive cells.
Use a Queen Excluder to prevent the Queen honey bee from laying in FlowHive Supers.
The difference between brood cells and honey cells by cap appearance.

One colony had a Queen laying in the flowhive frames, while the colony right next to it had no evidence of laying activity in the flow-frames at all.

Now that we know the Queen can and will lay eggs in the plastic deep cells of flow frames, we will use Queen Excluders with all FlowHive systems in the future. For now, this FlowSuper has just become a brood box. When the Queen is verified to be back down in the lower brood boxes, a Queen Excluder will be placed beneath the flow super which will prevent her return to those frames, hopefully returning them to honey storage.
Will cleanup be required? We'll see and share in future videos.
