Hosting the Epidaurus festival every July and August, the theatre is a centre for Arts in Greece.

The site however also has an amazing History, and the Theatre is only a part of the total complex, with a Hellenic Stadium, Greek and Roman Baths, Hellenic Temples and other buildings making up the entire Hellenic and Roman complex.

The site had 2 zeniths in its history, the 4th century BC as a Hellenic cult site, and the 2nd century AD when Emperor Hadrian visited the Roman site.

The Theatre often eclipses the other buildings, as the Theatre has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site, but the theatre is there because of the other buildings.

The site is very popular as a day trip from Athens, with many private coach tours visiting every day. It is also easy to reach if you hire a car and drive from Athens, Nafplio or Kalamata.
