Womens, mens, and kids boxing gloves come in various shapes and sizes and it's important to understand the differences between each style. There is more to know than just the color or even the size of the boxing gloves. You can have two pairs of 12 oz boxing gloves and they could be totally different, depending on gender or the sport it's intended for. In this video, Revgear President and CEO Paul Reavlin breaks down the differences between mens, womens, and kids boxing gloves.

The biggest difference to note is the size of the hand cage inside the glove. A boxing glove’s “hand cage” refers to the area inside of the glove where you put your hand. These areas are shaped differently on every boxing glove, it just depends on the style of the glove. All gloves are different so it’s best to try on a few pairs to find out what fits you the best.

On womens boxing gloves, designed specifically for women, the hand cage is oftentimes smaller and narrower than the hand cage on a mens glove. Kids boxing gloves operate a similar way, with an even smaller hand cage than on womens gloves. So even though 3 pairs of gloves may all be 12 oz boxing gloves, it is good to know who the boxing glove is intended for.
