Jamaican Folklore and Natural History Video Series is the result of a joint project administered by the Natural History Division of the Institute of Jamaica and the Natural History Society of Jamaica and funded by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica.

The Natural History Division of the Institute of Jamaica has served as the store house for our natural heritage since 1879. Its main purpose is encourage study and dissemination of scientific knowledge of Jamaican Flora and Fauna. It maintains a Science library that is open to the general public and students , a herbarium which houses over 130,000 plant specimens and large zoological collection of preserved Jamaican animals, including; insects, fish, birds reptiles. More recently the Natural History Museum of Jamaica has become the home of the Jamaica Clearing House Mechanism which is the islands biodiversity information network dedicated to easy access to information on Jamaica's Natural History.

Specimens are on display Monday - Friday at the Natural History Gallery located at the Institute of Jamaica, 10-16 East Street, Kingston.
