Testing Setup
For this test, we have connected solar panels to the inverter and are using two 200Ah flooded lead-acid batteries. The testing will be carried out in two phases:
Running a 3kW load using both solar power and batteries.
Running a 3kW load solely on batteries after they are fully charged.
Currently, our solar panels are generating around 1kW of power, which is being used to charge the batteries. However, since the batteries are not fully charged yet, we will first test the system by combining both solar power and battery power.
Load Testing Process
Instead of appliances like air conditioners, we will use heavy-load devices for testing:
A room heater
An immersion rod for water heating
Although there is already a small household load running, our main focus is to determine how much load this inverter can handle.
Initial Test with Solar + Battery:
The immersion rod (1500W) is turned on first, consuming around 1500W of power.
Next, the room heater is switched on at 50% power, bringing the total load close to 2.2kW.
When the heater is set to full power, the total load exceeds 3kW, reaching approximately 3.2kW.
The inverter continues running smoothly without any overload warnings.
Test with Battery Only:
We disconnect the solar power to check if the inverter can run solely on batteries.
The battery voltage drops significantly under load since all power is now drawn from the batteries.
After a short duration, we reconnect the solar panels to avoid excessive voltage drop and battery wire heating.
