Red Star over the Black Sea tells the story of Nâzım Hikmet and his generation. Nâzım Hikmet (1902-1963) is best known as a poet and communist whose daring flight by motorboat from Turkey to the Eastern Bloc captured international headlines in 1951. Considered one of the most important poets to have ever written in the Turkish language, Nâzım Hikmet's dramatic life not only constitutes a great story but also tells us something about the nature of the 20th century.

This collaborative community event is presented by OLLI at MSU and the Belgrade Community Library as part of their One Book Belgrade series in 2024, with sponsorship by Martel Construction.
