The complete OutRun Arcade Soundtrack — recreated on a real Commodore 64 using the legendary 8580 SID chip. 🚗🏁

Every track from OutRun has been rebuilt from scratch in Goattracker, then recorded directly from an actual C64 with an original 8580 SID.

No VSTs.
No emulation.
No fake “SID style”.

This is real hardware.

The original soundtrack by Hiroshi Kawaguchi is absolutely iconic — defining the sound of 80s arcade racing with classics like Magical Sound Shower, Passing Breeze and Splash Wave.

But:

Not all arcade tracks were fully represented in the orginal C64 version

And the full creative power of the SID chip was rarely pushed to its limits

So I decided to change that.

Every arcade theme is now included.
And this time, the SID is not just imitating — it’s unleashed.

Working within the 3-voice limitation of the C64, I used advanced SID techniques, filter movement, pulse modulation and dynamic arrangement to squeeze as much character as possible out of the 8580.

This is not a port.
This is not a conversion.
This is a full reinterpretation — built for the SID from the ground up.
