Let us first know who was "Tulsidas" and throw light on his biography.
As soon as the name of poet Goswami Tulsidas, who is known as the star of Hindi literary world, comes, people remember Ramcharit Manas. Goswami Tulsidas ji's birth is said to be on Shravan Shukla Saptami of Vikrami Samvat 1554 in a village named Rajapur in Banda district. His father's name was Shri Atma Ram Dubey and mother's name was Hulsi. It is said that he did not cry at the time of birth and the name Ram was pronounced clearly from his mouth. He was born in 'Abhukta Mool Nakshatra' and at the time of birth, his shape and appearance was like that of a five year old child. Astrologers considered him to be inauspicious for his parents due to his birth in 'Abhukta Mool'. Fearing harm to the child, his mother sent him along with her maid Chuniya to her in-laws' house and passed away from this world the very next day. Chuniya brought him up with great love, but when he was five and a half years old, Chuniya also fell in love with God and he became an orphan and started wandering from door to door. With the inspiration of Lord Shankar, who came with his Guru, Swami Narharyanand ji took him to Ayodhya and after performing the sacred rituals of Yagya, named him 'Rambola'. His intelligence was very sharp. Whatever he heard from his Guru, he would immediately memorize it. From Ayodhya, he came to Soro along with his Guru Shri Nar Haridas Ji, where he got the opportunity to listen to the sacred story of Ram from Gurumukh. After that, he went to Kashi and seriously studied the Veda scriptures from Shri Shesh Sanatan Ji for fifteen years.
But there is a very interesting story behind ordinary Tulsidas becoming Goswami Tulsidas. Due to his wife's harsh words, he changed from Tulsidas to Goswami Tulsidas.
Once upon a time, one day his wife went to her maternal home with her brother. Due to his immense love for his wife, he followed his wife to his in-laws house. Goswami Tulsidas was married to Ratnavali, a beautiful girl of Bhardwaj Gotra.
That means, “If you can love God even half of the amount of love you have for my body made of flesh and blood, then you will be well off.” The bitter but true words of his wife showed him the path of renunciation. From there he came straight to Prayag and became disillusioned.
Darshan of Lord Shri Ram: It is said that Goswami ji used to cross the Ganga daily for his daily work and while returning, he used to pour the remaining water from the pot at the root of a tree. A ghost lived on that tree. One day, after being satisfied, he asked Goswami ji to ask for a groom. He expressed to him his desire to see Lord Shri Ram. The ghost advised him to take shelter of the blessings of Shri Hanuman ji. One day he met Shri Hanuman ji in a satsang. Hanuman ji assured them to see God in Chitrakoot. Goswami ji was rubbing sandalwood while sitting on the ghat of Chitrakoot. Meanwhile, God came forward and asked for sandalwood. Goswami ji's wish from birth to birth was fulfilled. He had a vision of the unique form of Lord Shri Ram. Composition of Ramcharit Manas: With the permission of Shri Hanuman ji, he started chanting Shri Ramcharit Manas on Tuesday, Chaitra Shukla Ram Navami of Vikrami Samvat 1631. This book was prepared in two years, seven months and twenty-six days. Many miracles happened in his life due to the grace of God. Apart from Shri Ramcharit Manas, he composed many devotional books like Vinay Patrika, Dohawali, Kavitawali, Geetawali etc. and left his mortal body on Saturday, Shravan Krishna Tritiya of Vikrami Samvat 1680, saying Ram-Ram.
