The PAM 560 is a manual winding time piece that can be wound by first unlocking the crown, by lifting the locking lever completely. Then, turning the crown in a clock-wise direction until the eight day power reserve is completely energized. You'll know that it's completely energized because the crown will develop a marked resistance to turning. At this point, cease to wind the watch. It is fully energized and attempting to force the wand passed this point will damage the main spring barrel and potentially stop the watch.

At this point you can set the watch by pulling the crown to its outer-most position, and turning it counter-clockwise to advance the hands. Therefore, avoid these activities while wearing your watch. Finally, with respect to service, Officine Panerai recommends a regular evaluation of your watch by an authorized service center. Ideally, during your annual water test, have the condition of the watch evaluated as well as it's chronometric performance.
