Описание к видео Classic Cartoon "Ants in the Plants" WOW Best Restoration Color Sound and Clarity!

Ants in the Plants is an amazing classic cartoon from the Fleischer Studios at the peek of their animation experimentation. Distributed by Paramount Studios and hit screens on March 15, 1940. Directed by Dave Fleischer, head animator was Myron Waldman and music as almost always by Sammy Timberg. You will find here simply the best restoration of color, sound and clarity on YouTube!

This cartoon was part of Fleischer Studios Color Classics, but unfortunately a poorly restored collection of these cartoons was released in the 1990s on VHS and then a poorly transferred DVD in the 2000's. They got the color all wrong, they seem to have forgotten the Fleischer's love for Green!! We worked with the famous Sunny Day formally head colorist of Technicolor Vancouver and went back to the original color charts for this piece of classic animation history.

The rest of the color classics will soon follow here on the Cartoon Crazys Channel, all corrected as they should be. The sound is also significantly enhanced since theaters did not have old single speaker mono, but a form of stereo and depth that we have restored here.

This masterpiece of animation was a result of two influences at that time. One is obvious: MGM's The Wizard of Oz with the munchkin like guards that are also reminiscent of the monkey guards of the wicked witch, notice now with the acid green, the similarity is more obvious. Second this cartoon tested many of the techniques the Fleischer's were using in the (at that time) up coming and in production movie "Mr. Bug Goes to Town" (we will also release our take on that one soon as well). In Mr. Bug goes to Town, many cutting edge techniques were used to make an unperilled animation experience for the audience.

The Fleischer's, Max and Dave, invented rotoscoping and multiplane technology for the animation coming out of Fleischer Studios. Disney had a version as well, but Fleischer was trying to achieve 3D, where the audience is drawn into a scene, not 3D where the ball bounces off the screen, but 3D s in a live action motion picture where the audience feels a part of the action, not just watching a flat screen. To do this the Fleischer multi plane method actually used 3D live molded models for the different layers, unlike the Disney Method that simply used 3 or 4 layers of flat cell animation for depth.

This method can be clearly seen in Ants in the Plants, as the camera moves through the forest, and with the dimensions of large ant eater vs small ant. This experiment had its flaws in this cartoon, with bright over the top colors, colors that until now you have not seen in other versions of this cartoon. By the time Fleischer Studios finished Mr. Bug, they had the color pallet perfected, using one similar to that of the Fleischer Superman animated series.

I hope you enjoy this cool little cartoon, it has been compared to Disney's Silly Symphonies by those who talk before they research, but really, this cartoon is pure Max and Dave experimenting, pushing the detentions of animation for the good of us all!
