...Source: https://insideevs.com/news/726654/cat... Transcript: Per InsideEVs, China's CATL claims its new Long-Service-Life Battery can last up to 16 years or 1.24 million miles. This is equivalent to over 4,000 full charge and discharge cycles. CATL supplies batteries to Tesla, BYD, Hyundai, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

Typically, EV batteries have an 8-year warranty, but CATL's new battery promises a much longer lifespan. The company uses advanced technologies like low-lithium consumption, FIC Coating, and a bionic self-repairing electrolyte to extend battery life. They also developed a Flexible Expanding Force Management system to manage cell expansion stress.

CATL's website states an 8-year or 500,000-mile warranty for passenger EVs. The new commercial EV battery brand, CATL Tianxing, also has an 8-year warranty. However, the 16-year lifespan is a potential output, not guaranteed.

For comparison, Tesla's Long-Range Model 3 and Model Y have an 8-year or 120,000-mile warranty, with an average 15% battery capacity degradation after 200,000 miles.
