A Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number GS 2256–25 has been involved in a road traffic accident at Suhum in the Eastern Region after one of its tyres reportedly burst while the vehicle was in motion.
According to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, the sudden tyre failure caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading to the car somersaulting several times along the Accra–Kumasi highway. Officers who visited the scene said the impact and rollover were consistent with a rapid loss of balance following the tyre burst.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the incident, while injured occupants were transported to a nearby health facility for medical attention. Hospital officials confirmed receiving accident victims from the Suhum stretch.
Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the tyre failure and the circumstances leading to the crash. The vehicle has been impounded for technical examination as part of the investigation.
