The War on the West by Douglas Murray is a great book. Of the book reviews 2022 I’ve done I listened to the audio version on audible which is narrated by Douglas Murray himself. I wasn’t sure if it might be just more of the same after The Madness of Crowds but there’s loads here worth hearing or reading and thinking about when it comes to free speech, culture and history.

Jim Rohn talked about the importance of having principles and knowing who you are. This book gives you more of what you need to stand up to the bullies who think it’s okay to tell you how you should be thinking and what you should be saying. I particularly liked the chapter on gratitude, resentment and Nietzsche.

Let’s not forget that for everything wrong with western society, and we do have a long way to go yet, that it’s about as good as it gets so far. We have so much to be proud of if we only think a bit deeply about it. We certainly should not throw away what we have because of past wrongs and we certainly shouldn’t be too quick to put up with the destruction of our heroes.
