I taught my self violin and this is my progress after one year.

Ever since I was a child I had always been drawn towards this instrument; It was always my dream to be able to play. However, as a child, I lost motivation and didn't believe that I would ever be able to progress. Thus, my violin ended up collecting dust in my room until I turned 18.

It wasn't until March 2017 when I promised myself that I would start learning again.
This was extremely difficult.

I am not naturally a musically talented person and so even having the ability to differentiate the difference between pitches was something that I needed to put a lot of work into. I did not even know how to read music notes, so that was my first step. ( THANKYOU YOUTUBE!!)

The steps after that was constant practice, which lead to learning something new every day..

From how to hold the violin properly to teaching my self vibrato.

I struggled to listen to the screechy sound of my playing almost everyday ( so make sure you turn your volume down when you watch the video)
but I persisted and so glad I did. Looking back at this video it makes me remember the times when I was so close to giving up but also helps me remember the times where I was ecstatic after I had learned a new song.

Although I may not sound like a professional violinist, this journey has taught me so much more than just playing an instrument. I developed a very strong mind-set along the line of growth. This mindset has allowed me to learn more skills that I ever thought I would able to do.

I am currently focusing on other skills which I have grown a strong passion for, however by learning something that I was not confident in allowed me to believe that what ever you put time and effort into you have the opportunity to succeed.
