Blaine was Kurt's defender from the moment they met. Although this wasn't always the case and didn't weaken Kurt's character, turning him into a damsel in distress, Blaine was Kurt's Prince Charming and their love story always seemed a bit too fantastical and fairytale-like (which personally, made me love it more, but I can see how it might have caused some people to dislike it.)

By the way, happy 12th anniversary to "Prom Queen"!
